「バウハウス・デッサウ展」（東京藝術大学大学美術館）ー７／２１（月）まで

日曜日に行って来ました。

今の日本でバウハウスの理念を忠実に教えている学校は、おそらくありません。
基礎過程の演習や講義では触れられているとは思いますが、学生がそこでの考えの通りに作品を作っていることはまずないでしょう。デザインにおけるバウハウス離れは確実に起こっています。

私が学生時代にバウハウスで用いられていた幾何学的なデザインをしたことがありましたが、あまり良い評価は頂けませんでした。もっとカタチで遊べとも言われましたし、腑に落ちない思いをしたことを覚えています。それからしばらくの間は悩み続ける日々でした。

現在のデザインは、昔と違ってあらゆる要素が複雑に絡みあっているので、バウハウスの教えだけでは不十分です。生活の多様化はデザインの多様化を引き起こしました。

ですが、バウハウスを知る事は大事な事だと思います。
学生でいえば、美大生のみならず経済学や機械工学を学んでいる学生にも見て欲しい。
社会人でいえば、デザイナーのみならずデザインに少しでも関わっているあらゆる職業の方々に見て欲しい。

これから先、デザインはもっと色々な業界に浸透していき、美大卒ではないデザイナーももっと増えてくることでしょう。そして、これからのデザイン界を引率していくのは、そうしたアートスクール出身ではないデザイナーだと思います。悲しいことですが、デザインの事だけを考えているデザイナーは隅っこに追いやられていくことだと思います。

だからこそ、バウハウスというデザインの原点を多くの人に見て欲しい。
その時代に何があり、後世にどのような影響を及ぼしてきたのか。

バウハウスは政治的な弾圧を受けた学校でもあるので、そういった観点からみても色々と考えさせられます。

今一度、バウハウスについて考えてみましょう。
昔を知り、今を見つめ、未来を考えましょう。

現在のデザイン教育は、時代に合わせようと必死なので、教育の核となる部分が見えません。
今のままではバウハウスのように後世に影響を残せるものにはならないでしょう。
そう考えると、バウハウスがいかに優れたデザイン教育であったのかが分かります。

時間がある方は見に行くことをお勧めします。
大きい展示会ではありませんが、きっと何か感じる事はあるでしょう。
