あついぞ！熊谷 その１ [イベント]
暑い事で有名な熊谷に行って来た。目的は毎年恒例の花火大会。花火大会自体に行くのが何年ぶりかだ。
河川敷で行なわれるので、早めに行ってビニールシートで場所取り。午後三時くらいに着いたのだがその時にはもう既に多くの人で一杯だった。屋台から漂う焼きそばやらお好み焼きやらの匂いに早くもやられてしまった。
さっきも言ったが、熊谷は暑い事で有名。夏の暑さはネガティブな印象を受けるが、それを逆手に取って暑さを売りにした町づくり＝地域のブランディングを行なっている。
写真は駅前の様子だが、ミストシャワーが降り注いでいる。（画質が悪いため見えにくいかもしれませんが許して下さい）少しでも涼しくしようということだろう。出来れば駅前だけではなくて、駅周辺にもある程度設置されていれば良かったかな。難しいとは思いますが。
時間があったので駅ビルもいくつか見て回ったら色々と刺激があった。
普段見慣れている都内のショップとは全然違う。取り扱っている商品や陳列の仕方、お客さんに求められているもの・求められていないもの。都内での常識はここにはない。と言うよりは通用しないのかもしれない。ミッドタウンや表参道ヒルズのような華やかさは、ここでは反って受け入れ難いのだと思う。
当然、雑誌で見る様な最新のデザイングッズなんてものは置いていない。
場所が変われば人が変わる、そしてデザインも変わる。ホントはデザインは変わる様なものでは無いと思うのだけれど、変わってしまうのが今のデザイン。色々と考えさせられる。
花火は午後７時から９時までの約二時間。
ダイナミックの連続だった。花火の音がお腹にまで響いてくる。川を挟んだ対岸から打ち上げられているので臨場感は抜群だ。まさに花火が上から降り注いでくる感覚を体感した。都心の花火大会には無い、地方ならではの演出だった。
帰りは一時間くらい駅で立ち往生。あまりの人の多さのため規制がかかり駅構内にも中々入る事が出来ない。でもそれも良い思い出だ。来年もまた来たいと思った。
