三洋電機から業界最薄のFAXが発売

三洋電機から、業界最薄の高さ78mmの普通紙FAX電話機「SFX-D500」シリーズが発売される。
価格はオープンプライスだが、予想店頭価格は子機1台付きの「SFX-D500」が26,000円、子機2台付きの「SFX-DW500」が34,000円とのこと。

業界最薄という本体サイズは、296×200×78mm。従来機と比べて体積を45%カットしている。置き場所に困らないスリムなデザインを特徴としている。

何故この商品を記事で取り上げたかというと、私自身FAXはいずれは市場から無くなってしまうプロダクトだと思っているからです。なんというか、一つの完成形を見ずに終わってしまうモノなのかなと。

そうは思っていても、こうして技術革新に伴い着実に進歩してる様子を見ると、メーカー側の苦労も垣間見える気がします。三洋という企業の商品であることも関係無しではありません。

ただこの新しいFAXを見ていると、徐々に完成系に近づきつつあるのかなという気もします。
以前のものよりは格段に使い易くなっているし、デザインも洗練されつつあります。

FAX が市場から無くなるのが先か、完成形に辿り着くのが先か、遠目から見守っていようと思います。
