VOICE OF DESIGN

トヨタのサイトにあるVOICE OF DESIGNが面白い。面白いというより、自動車業界も変わりつつあるのかなと考えさせられた。

そこにはトヨタのデザイン部の方達が何名か紹介されているわけですが、マネージャー・外装・エクステリア・モデラーという、デザインの各パート毎を担当している人達が、それぞれが主人公のように紹介されています。しかも仕事以外でのライフスタイルにも触れられているので、単なる社員紹介ではなく、NHKのプロフェッショナルのような、一人の人間としての「大きさ」を感じさせられる。

自動車関連の企業はデザイン業界の中でもとりわけ閉鎖的な業界ですので、企業内部の人間を外にアピールすることはほとんどないので、このVOICE OF DESIGNを見て「おや？」と思った訳です。

こうした取り組みによって、インハウスのデザイナーがメディアに登場する機会も増えていくんでしょうか。でも企業側としては、やっぱり個人名を出す事は避けたいんだろうなぁ。
