KDDIから初のスマートフォン 「E30HT」

いよいよKDDIからもスマートフォンが発売される事になった。
発売されるのはHTC製のスマートフォン「E30HT」。Windows Mobile 6.1 Professionalを搭載したモデルで、発売は2009年春、価格は未定。法人向けでの販売になるらしい。

E30HTは「HTC Touch Pro」がベースとなっていて、
イー・モバイルから発売予定の「HTCTouchDiamond」とは兄弟機に当たる。

各キャリアの主要端末は、ドコモはブラックベリー、ソフトバンクはiPhone、KDDIとイーモバイルはHTCと、日本のスマートフォン市場は海外メーカー端末による勝負という結果になった。ウィルコムだけが唯一日本メーカーであるSHARPを採用しているあたりが、個人的には頼もしく思える。

正直、今回のKDDIのスマートフォン市場への参入の仕方は、真っ当すぎて少々気が引けてしまった。
参入の出遅れ感を早急に対処したかのようにしか思えない。もっと攻撃的な端末を発表してくれれば面白かったんだが...。

その辺りはコンテンツのサービスに任せるとして、今後どういったやり方で各キャリアが法人契約を増やしていくかが見物だ。

スマートフォンはビジネス用端末なので、いかに法人の契約数を延ばす（囲い込む）かが重要である事は言うまでもない。ドコモのブラックベリーは、アメリカでは十分に結果を出しているので有利だ。KDDIもHTCという強力なメーカと手を組んだのだから、今後の巻き返しに期待だ。

問題なのはソフトバンクがiPhoneをスマートフォンと位置づけいていることだ。iPhoneはビジネス用端末としての利用価値はもちろんあるのだが、法人契約を結ぶとなると弱い端末だと思う。印象からだろうか、個人で所有して楽しむ端末としての要素が強いため、シェアの拡大は中々難しいように思える。だけれども、企業の社員の中ではiPhoneを欲しいという声も多いと思うので、意思決定者の首をどうやって縦に振らせるようにするのか。ソフトバンクの次の一手に非常に興味がある。

役者は揃ったと言いたい所だが、単なるシェア争いだけではなく、やはり端末の開発に力を注いで欲しい。しかし、海外メーカーが主力商品である以上、それは難しいのかもしれない。

「スマートフォン＝QWERTYキー」という考え方ではなく、webブラウザが表示出来て、ビジネスに必要なコンテンツ、アプリケーションを過不足無く使える...という方向性で進めていけば、もっと違うデザインのアプローチも出来ると思うのだが。
だからこそ、日本メーカーにはもっと頑張って欲しいと思ってしまう。

スマートフォンの機能とデザインとの兼ね合いは、もう少し時間が経たなければ、うまく噛み合っていかなそうだ。
