ソニエリ「Xperia X1」は日本で発売されるか？

「世界のケータイ・デザイン」でも紹介されているが、ソニエリのスマートフォン「Xperia X1」は果たして日本で発売されるのだろうか？

Xperia X1は、Windows Mobile搭載でHTC製の端末。
ソニエリお得意の音楽や動画はもちろん、モバイルとwebとを融合したハイクラスのエンターテイメント端末だ。デザインも私的な好みに合い、スライドした時に弧を描く様も綺麗だ。

Xperiaはソニエリ初のサブブランドであり、プレミアム端末という位置づけだ。
単なるビジネス用のスマートフォンとしてではなく、iPhoneのように個人での使用も十分楽しめる端末だと思うので、今後のソニエリのスマートフォン市場の世界戦略の火付け役となるだろうか。

肝心の発売時期についてだが、欧州諸国・アジア太平洋地域の一部・中南米などでは第4四半期、北米・中国・オーストラリア・ロシアなどのその他諸国については未定とされている。

日本でも発売すると具体的に明示されていないのが、やはり気にかかるところである。
アジア太平洋地域の一部...とあるが、そこに日本が含まれるのか否か。

先日KDDIのスマートフォン市場への参入が発表されたが、個人的にその第一弾端末はこのXperia X1であってほしいと願っていた。実際にはHTC製のE30HTとなり、それも面白い端末ではあるが、今までのauとソニエリとの関係から、是非とも最初はソニエリ製品で...という思いがあった。
第４四半期での日本での発売はないだろう。E30HTの発売時期と重なるからだ。今後発売されるとしても、もう少し時期はずれ込むと思われる。

この端末の最初の発表は今年の始めであったのだが、その時は日本での発売は無いと言われていた。
しかし、少しずつではあるが風向きは変わってきているように思える。日本のスマートフォン市場が今よりももっと拡大していけば、Xperia X1の発売もあり得るのでないのだろうか。

それにしても、どのキャリアもスマートフォンに対する扱い方は慎重過ぎるところがある。
今までのスマートフォンはビジネス用の端末としての要素が強いので、どのキャリアも法人客の囲い込みを再重要視している。端末の特性上そうしたやり方は分かるが、iPhoneが登場して新しいビジネスモデルの在り方をまざまざと見せつけられたのだから、もっと魅力的な端末からのアプローチもして欲しいと思うのは僕だけだろうか。
